East Lancashire train passengers delayed by abusive drunken man
11:50am Friday 9th August 2013 in News
A TRAIN service was delayed after a drunken man was abusive towards a conductor.
A 64-year-old man from Blackburn abused the conductor as he was dealing with a woman who had become trapped between closing doors at Mill Hill station.
British Transport police were called to the 7.44pm Blackpool South to Colne service on Wednesday, and other trains were halted as officers spoke to the man.
He was not arrested or charged but will be spoken to again at a later date, police said.
Service was disrupted by more than 90 minutes throughout the night, a Northern Rail spokesman said.
Former Burnley mayor David Heginbotham and his wife Joan, from Cliviger, were delayed.
He said: “We were told it was due to some undesirable on the train in front. If you get issues on trains like that it can cause all sorts of problems.”
