Taxi firm in Colne looks to expand
3:06pm Thursday 8th August 2013 in News
COUNCILLORS are set to make a decision tonight on plans to operate more private hire vehicles from an office at Market Place, in Colne.
In a report to councillors, planning officer Alex Cameron said: “The application site is an existing taxi booking office located within Colne town centre.
“The existing planning permission for 10 Market Place, approved by Colne Committee in 1998, allows the operation of two private hire vehicles from the property.
“No off-street parking was specified in the application and so a Section 106 agreement was made requiring that two permanently available spaces were provided for the use.
“An agreement was made to use two spaces on the Midgley Street car park.
“However, this agreement is no longer in place, the current office has no off-street parking and so is in breach of the Section 106 agreement.
“This application would supersede the existing planning permission and increase the number of cars which can operate from 10 Market Place from two to five cars, with off-street parking provided by three spaces on the Midgley Street car park.
