Roofer died after Darwen ladder fall
1:00pm Thursday 8th August 2013 in News
A ROOFER who died after falling off a ladder while repairing a chimney died of a heart attack, a coroner said.
Michael Singleton said that it was unclear if Keith Jackson, 65, suffered the attack before or after the fall while pointing the chimney in Brandwood Street. Darwen.
Mr Jackson, who lived in Bolton, was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital by ambulance after a doctor was flown to the scene by the air ambulance. However, despite the best efforts of medics, he was pro-nounced dead a short time later. Linda Brydon, Mr Jackson’s partner, said: “His general health was ok but he was a bit over weight but he did go to the gym.
“He didn’t drink a great deal but he did enjoy going out at the weekends. About two weeks before he died he complained about cramp in his chest but it passed and he was fine after that.”
Mr Singleton said that Mr Jackson suffered from type two diabetes, gout and high blood pressure. Pathologist Mickhaiel Barrow said: “The injury to his head was just superficial but the fracture to his pelvis had a major bearing on the paramedics not being able to revive him.”
