TWO teenagers were injured when a suspected stolen car they were travelling in smashed into a wall.

The driver of the Rover 214 SE lost control in Clitheroe Road, Brierfield, at around 11.15pm on Sunday and the car collided with the wall of some newly built houses.

The driver, believed to be a 16-year-old boy from Brie-rfield, suffered a head injury and a serious arm injury. He was in a serious condition at Royal Preston Hospital yesterday, police said.

The front seat passenger, believed to be a 17-year-old boy from Brierfield, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with a minor head injury.

A rear seat passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Brierfield was uninjured.

He has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and breach of an anti-social behaviour order and was being questioned by police.

Sgt Tracey Ward said: β€œAn investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is now under way. I am keen to speak with anybody who may have seen this car being driven in the area prior to the collision and earlier in the day.”
