THE husband of a ‘bright star’ who passed away after a battle with breast cancer is urging women to get checked regularly.

Devoted mother-of-two Cath Grime, from Langho, died four years after being diagnosed with the disease.

Her family has paid tribute to the 49-year-old, who worked for the early years school service at Lancashire County Council.

Husband Mel said: “Cath was really sparkly through it all, despite what she was going through.

“She was always worried about everybody else and she was really supportive of other people having similar problems. Cath was really upbeat and she was really popular.

“She definitely had the attitude that she wanted to beat the cancer.”

Former Clitheroe Royal Grammar School pupil Cath, who formerly lived in Salesbury, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2009 and had successful treatment over the following 12 months. She was involved in organising trips for youngsters at Langho Football Club and was a well-respected member of the community.

But last year, doctors said the disease had spread and Cath, who has also worked for Altham’s Travel Services in Blackburn, underwent more treatment.

Mel said: “The treatment made her last year very difficult.”

Cath’s funeral will be held at St Peter’s Church, in Salesbury, at 12.15pm tomorrow.
