THE chairman of Rillington Parish Council said he was dismayed after a weekend of vandalism at the village’s recreation ground.
Vandals smashed the windows of the ground’s sports pavilion and pulled wooden slats from benches.
Coun Brian Maud said it was a pointless act.
“It seems they have gone on the Saturday night and smashed windows and then returned on the Sunday as well,” he said.
“Black paint was also sprayed on some of the equipment and a seat broken – it really is disappointing and something that we don’t expect in our village.”
Police said they were appealing for information following the incident which took place between April 27 and 29.
PC Nick Coning, the local beat manager, said: “ This sort of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated by our community.
“Someone, somewhere knows who is responsible and they should also know that the right thing to do is to pass on that information to me so that those responsible can be dealt with accordingly.”
Anyone with any details should contact PC Coning by emailing nick.coning@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
