A SOAP star is backing a charity appeal, and urging volunteers to join in.
Blackburn actress Wendi Peters, who found fame as Coronation Street’s Cilla Battersby, is backing the annual Hyndburn charity walk, on Sunday, May 19.
Wendi met up with events organisers, from Oswaldtwistle and Church Rotary Club, this week on a visit to Oswaldtwistle Mills. She will join walkers on the seven-mile trek, which starts and finishes at Junction 7 Business Park, in Clayton-le-Moors.
In each of its previous six years, the walk has never raised less than £60,000 for a wide range of charities Rotary president Mike Hindle said he hoped walkers would follow Wendi’s example. The walk starts between 9.30am and 10am. There is car parking available, and Rotary stewards will be on duty to provide support for walkers.
