RESIDENTS of a social housing scheme for young people gave it a fresh lick of paint.

They helped paint a new lounge and IT suite at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Banbury Foyer in George Street.

It is part of a £650,000 revamp of the accommodation scheme, which provides homes for 19 young people.

The revamp will include a new reception, communal area, meeting room, laundry and kitchen to help residents learn culinary skills.

Resident Robbie Hawkins said: “I got the chance to work alongside a professional painter, which was good experience.

“He said I was a really hard worker for the effort I put in on the day.”

Local service manager Maggie Davies said: “The work being carried out at the foyer has breathed new life into the building and there’s already a real growth in the community vibe here as a result.”
