Blackburn Mall security team scale Ben Nevis

A SHOPPING centre security team scaled the UK’s highest mountain to raise money for a hospice.
The 16-strong team, made up of employees from Blackburn Mall’s VSG security staff and friends, completed the sponsored hike up Ben Nevis in Scotland to raise £3,147.27.
Gareth Stead-Clark, security supervisor, said: “It was extremely tough and I don’t think I’d ever do it again. But we were chuffed to reach the top of the highest mountain in Britain and even more pleased when we found out later how much money we had raised for such a great cause.
“We picked St Catherine’s Hospice at Bamber Bridge after a vote among Mall staff.
“Some of the lads in the team had relatives who have been cared for by the hospice, so we know what great work they do.”
Lynne Whittaker, senior fundraiser, thanked the team.
