Two Ribble Valley pubs up for Thwaites brewery gongs

TWO Ribble Valley pubs will go head to head in the Thwaites Awards for Excellence next month.

The Blackburn brewery has unveiled the nominees for its annual awards which includes pubs from the firm’s nationwide estate.

The Buck Inn, Clitheroe, and the White Hart, Sabden, were among the nominees in the Best Newcomer category while the Eagle and Child in Ramsbottom is up for Best Pub Dining.

Pubs from all across the country were nominated across seven categories including best pub fayre, best newcomer experience, best pint, best what’s on and best turnaround.

The winners from each category go into the hat for the coveted pub of the year award.

Andrew Buchanan, director of pub operations, said: “Yet again we have received an unprecedented number of entries and the standard has been extremely high, demonstrating the great service our tenants are providing.

“The finalists have done extremely well to be shortlisted and have demonstrated to our expert judging panel that they have gone that extra mile.”

The winners will be announced during a ceremony in Knutsford, Cheshire, on Wednesday, April 10.
