A MAN smoking a cigarette outside a wine bar was assaulted by a gang of men.

The 18-year-old victim suffered facial injuries, including a black eye, after he was attacked by five men outside Baggy’s bar, in Great Harwood.

The victim left the Glebe Street bar shortly after 2am to have a cigarette. Officers said the attack followed a verbal altercation inside the bar, and up to five attackers were waiting for the victim outside.

Police have issued CCTV images of a group of men they want to speak to in relation to the incident, on March 3.

PC Craig Swift said: “I appeal to anybody who witnessed the assault, or recognises any of the men in the CCTV images, to contact police on 101.”

One of the men is believed to have been wearing a red and white striped top.
