POLE dancers – including four men – from across the UK battled it out in the British Pole Superstar Championships at Blackburn’s Thwaites Empire Theatre.

The 28 competitors took to the stage on Saturday, travelling from as far as Ireland and Brighton.

Pole dancing instructor Daniel Roe-Barnett, 21, from Brighton, said: “I got into pole dancing two years after a friend of mine dragged me along to classes. I absolutely love it.”

Instructors Nadine Blacow and Leana Darbyshire from DFA Studios in New Plough Yard, Great Harwood created the British championships.

Nadine, 28, said: “The whole point of the competition is to bring everyone in the pole industry together. There has been nothing like this before in this area and we hope the event will really show people what poling is all about.”
