Child porn ring member from Blackburn had vile collection

A CHILDREN'S hospice supporter was part of a child porn ring, sharing vile films of youngsters being abused with other perverts on the internet, a court heard.

David Forshaw, a 57-year-old motorcycle business boss, kept a stash of films and clips on DVDs and computers at the Blackburn home where he lived alone.

He was to tell police he fantasised about having sex with a 14-year-old girl and thought relationships with girls of that age were normal.

Forshaw, who was sharing child porn images with others, was arrested when officers raided his home.

Forshaw, who has a long- term partner, claimed his interest was in teenage girls, but some of the images on his computer showed ‘very young children,’ Burnley Crown Court was told.

The defendant, of Peronne Crescent, was given a 16 month jail term, after adm-itting one allegation of possessing an indecent photo of a child — seven movies at level four on DVDs; four counts of making an indecent photo of a child — movies found on his computer towers, including 118 at level four and others at lower levels; and four charges of distributing indecent images of children, of which five were at level four.

He was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years, given a 10-year sexual offences prevention order so police can monitor his internet use and was banned from working with children.

Sarah Pritchard, prosecuting, said the offences came to light as the result of a Scottish police operation last April, relating to down-loading internet porn.

When his house was searched, officers found ‘sacks full’ of DVDs and seized two computer hard drives and various equipment.

Daniel King, defending, said Forshaw had a ‘naive’ view of this type of offending.

He said: “This is not a case where he was selling images or sending images by email or any other digital media."

Judge Andrew Woolman told Forshaw: “It's clear that over the years you had an extremely unhealthy interest in child porn, which you clearly shared with others.”
