Apprentices in drive to support Burnley food bank

YOUNG apprentices are hoping that their crusade for a town’s food bank will win over judges in a national competition.

Team Inspira, made up of youthful recruits from Burnley Council, have been holding a two-day donation drive this week on Monday and Tuesday in aid of Burnley Food Bank. The young workers have been collecting non-perishable foodstuffs at Burnley Town Hall, St Peter’s Leisure Centre and Padiham Leisure Centre.

And the nine-strong team’s performance will be measured by a judging panel from the Brathay Apprencticeship Challenge.

Richard Gill, of Team Inspira, said: “We wanted to help out our community and as most of our team are predominantly from Burnley I put the idea forward to support the local food bank and help raise awareness and local people and families who are struggling.”

The team has set up their own Facebook web page and Twitter account – @teaminspira – so people can follow their progress.
