ROVERS and Clarets fans will go head-to-head on the dancefloor just hours before their teams meet this weekend.

DJs and MCs from both towns are set to battle it out at what is being billed as a ‘Clash of the Titans’ event at a Burnley nightclub.

Hundreds of revellers are expected to attend the dance music party at Club Fusion, Hammerton Street, on Saturday night.

Around a dozen artists from Burnley and a dozen from Blackburn will take turns to spin tunes to the crowd.

Club manager Mick Lawless said the 1,500 capacity venue was gearing up for the big night. He said: “We have had DJs from both towns on the same night before although there is a bit more interest this time because it’s the day before the game. I know there’s a massive rivalry between the clubs and the towns, but it’s always been friendly before and I expect it to be friendly again this time.”

The club is licensed to open until 6am on Sunday, while Burnley fans are expected to arrive at Turf Moor by 9.45am to board coaches to Ewood Park.

Rovers fan Declan Evans, 22, from Mill Hill, is one of the MCs involved in promoting the event. He said he was looking forward to sharing the decks with his opposite numbers from across the M65.

Mr Evans, also known by his stage name, Evvo, said: “The idea is really to bring everyone together.

“We’re all in it for the love of the music and I can’t wait to get the crowds going. Each town will play a one-hour set, with each artist doing two or three mixes each.”

He said that fans were coming in minibuses from Blackburn, Accrington and Great Harwood, and added: “What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch, we’re just here to do our bit for the music scene.”

Doors open at 10pm, with entry priced at £7.
