Oswaldtwistle teenager jailed over broken bottle attack

A DETECTIVE has praised the courts for jailing a teenager who slashed a student’s face with a piece of glass.

DC John Banks said he was pleased to hear 19-year-old Jordan Hadjett, of Chapel Street, Oswaldtwistle, had been sent to a Young Offenders’ Institution for 12 months.

Burnley Crown Court heard Hadjett left his 17-year-old victim bleeding heavily, with a deep gash needing 12 stitches, after attacking her with the neck of a broken bottle.

The pair had an early hours confrontation in the street, after the defendant was thrown out of a house where the victim was babysitting.

DC Banks, of Blackburn CID, said: “The victim was left with a significant injury to her neck. I am very pleased with the sentence as the consequences of that night will stay with the victim forever.”
