HEADLINER Jimmy Cliff
LEGENDARY soul and reggae artist Jimmy Cliff is to headline this year’s Beat-Herder Festival in the Ribble Valley in July.
This year’s festival, held near Sawley, will be the eighth annual event and run from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7. The festival which prides itself on its low-key, non corporate approach has revealed an impressive line-up of live music, top DJs and even comedians.
As well as Jimmy Cliff, best known for the hits Wonderful World, Wonderful People and You Can Get It If You Really Want, the festival line-up also includes veteran soul, funk and house DJ Norman Jay MBE, aided by Mr Scruff.
Electronic acts Booka Shade and Roosevelt are also on the bill along with Jaguar Skills, Stanton Warriors and Mistajam.
Also playing live will be indie five-piece Toy and the 11-piece hip hop orchestra Kormac’s Big Band.
The festival site, which takes a full year to build, will feature its own working men’s club, fire pits, stone circles, numerous stages and sound systems and a fully-functioning Victorian street, including sweetshops, record shops, Irish pub and even its own parish church.
The wooded setting has a unique atmosphere, with the majority of festivalgoers camping on-site.
For the full line-up visit www.beatherder.co.uk. Full festival tickets are now on sale priced £105, with children 12 and under £20.
