Pride as Blackburn primary school wins top award

SHADSWORTH Junior School in Blackburn has received national recognition for offering a high standard of education to its wide range of pupils.

It has been awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark for the opportunities it offers pupils regardless of age, sex, ethnicity or attainment.

The school will collect the award at a ceremony in London.

It went through rigorous assessments spanning management, teachers, parents and pupils covering the quality of leadership, teaching and learning.

They included support for parents, carers and pupils in the community.

Headteacher Jenny Hetherington said: “Everyone here is so proud of this award.

“To be recognised as being a fully inclusive school fully endorses everything we aim to do for our pupils.”

Blackburn with Darwen schools chief Tony Humphrys said: “Offering children opportunities in education across all backgrounds and circumstances is massively important.”
