Hard pressed parents having to fork out for costumes and/or spend hours and late nights on what presumeably is a business model by book sellers to sell stock and give schools a kick back.
It would be much cheaper for parents just to give away £5 each and have done with it, but this would be too up front, honest and show it up for what it is, a money spinning scheme at parents expense!
What has this to do with books!
The literacy in schools is much better than when I was a lad, but there is no need for this stealth tax on time money and energy, it achieves nothing bar give ego trips for those who can take devote themselves to it!!!
