Youths verbally abuse Burnley fire crews tackling rubbish fire

FIREFIGHTERS were verbally abused while tackling a rubbish fire in Burnley.

The crew was called to extinguish a rubbish fire in Griffin Close at around 10pm last night.

While they were putting out the flames, a group of teenagers started shouting at them.

Watch manager Dave Robinson from Burnley Fire Station, said that although the fire itself was fairly minor, there had been some trouble with the group.

He said: “It was just a rubbish fire but we did get a bit of verbal abuse.

“The last thing we want to do is inflame the situation.

“There are some issues but we are going to engage with the local community and spend some time with them to see is there is anything we can help with.

“We are also going to have a presence in the area to see if there are any issues over the next few days and to let people know we are here to help them.”

Unfortunately this is a sad reflection of todays youth, not just in Lancashire, but across the whole of the uk.

Its clear that certain groups of young people aren't being brought up correctly, you only have to take a look at the families behind these kids to see where the real issues lie!!!!.

I'm sure any professional person can cope with verbal abuse. Strange news from the L.E.T

Why should they have to? These firefighters are prepared to risk their lives, they deserve respect.

Seems like 2 for 5p lives up to his name (cheap and nasty) and wouldn't be surprised if he or one of his own was one of the idiots.

Would love to see his reaction should he really need to use the Fire Service (probably cause a fire sometime by falling asleep in either an alcoholic or drug induced sleep, with a fag in his mouth) P*ll**k that he probably is!

Bang on, It is not only a lack of respect but the parents of these yobs don't know how to correct the behavior of their kids.
I do subscribe to Happy cyclists method of correction. As for 2for 5p well If the chip on his shoulder gets any bigger he will need the support of the fire brigade to lift it off him. Bitterness will just eat you up.
