Sadistic yobs squirt washing up liquid into cat's eyes, nose and mouth in Blackburn

SADISTIC thugs tortured a cat by squirting washing up liquid into its eyes, nose and mouth.

Animal lover Adele Maden said she was’ horrified’ to discover her beloved pet cat Bobby had been cruelly targeted by the ‘inhumane’ yobs.

The three-year-old black and white moggie was struggling to see and breathe when he returned home at around 9am after being let out for the night. A vet had to sedate the animal because he was so distressed before they could begin trying to wash the detergent away.

Mother-of-two Adele said: “I can’t believe someone would target such a defenceless animal in such a sadistic way.

“Bobby is the friendliest and most gentle cat around. He is the sort of cat that visits several families for food.

“When I first saw him I thought he had had glue squirted into his eyes as they were really sticky.

“It’s only when I tried to bathe them and noticed there was a green tinge that I thought it was washing up liquid.

“He had bubbles coming out of his nose and in his mouth. I was horrified someone could be so horrible”

Adele was told by the vet there was no way the cat could have picked up these injuries by itself and that it must have been a deliberate act.

Adele, 42, of Cravens Heath, Oakdale, Blackburn, said: “Whoever has carried out this attack on Bobby is inhumane.

“I honestly think that when they are caught they need psychiatric help to find out why they would do this.

“Bobby is cheeky and playful and often very trusting so it would have been easy to get his attention.

“Like the whole family, Bobby is completely traumatised. He is a confident cat that loves going out but he seems really timid at the minute.

“I just hope anyone who knows what happened to him reports it to the police to prevent it happening to another defenceless animal.”

The police have now launched an investigation to try and find out who is behind the attack.

Fernhurst community beat manager, PC Mark Perry, said: “We have launched an investigation to try and find out who is behind this cruel act.

“Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is urged to call police.”

The family pet now has permanent damage to his corneas after Tuesday’s attack.

The cat’s whiskers were also cut short affecting the way he feels his way around, and his judgement on whether or not he'll fit through an opening.

He is struggling to open his eyes and is still suffering the effects of ingesting the detergent.

Leanne Plumtree, northwest spokeswoman for the RSPCA, said: "It sounds like a shocking incident and we'd urge anyone with any information about the person responsible for it to contact the police, who are investigating."

Anyone with information should call police on 101.

This just shows what a set of pathetic individuals / groups we have walking the estates at night, lets start to let these sick idiots know we are watching them, it's time to get our community spirit back and start to acknowledge each other and to watch out for each others backs, if you see anything that your not happy about do something about it, I don't mean go out and confront them but to watch them and note down what they are wearing, any names you might hear etc etc, then pass it onto the police. Lets get this scum off our streets, and to the parents who read this and have kids/teenagers, do you know where they are and what they are doing when they go out???.

No doubt the scum who did this would not dare to attempt to do something as cruel to anything or anyone bigger than them.
Whoever did this is a vile individual and let's hope the Police are able to trace him/her.
Someone who deliberately harms an innocent animal should be taken off our streets, and put away for a long time with no good behaviour breaks taken into account.
It will be difficult to catch the creep, but I hope the Police/owners of the cat don't give up until justice has prevailed.

Why does this story lead with the words sadistic yobs, when theres no evidence at all to say that young people were involved, nor to say that it was more than one person? Isn't it equally likely that the evil culprit could be a middle aged or elderly neighbour who doesn't want the cat in his or her garden?

Terrible mistreatment. When we had cats we always shut them in the kitchen at night as you cant trust that they will still be alive in the morning with the traffic on the roads. Glad we did with these sick folk around. Hope this pet recovers more.

I agree with what you say.
As someone who is between middle aged and elderly, with no love for cats whatsoever, I have to disagree.
I'm of the opinion that cats are the most useless articles in Creation. They don't come when you them, won't herd sheep or fetch a stick. Even when you shout at them for digging holes in your garden, they just give you a supercillious look. Much as I hate next door's cat, I could never bring myself to commit this act and am sure that a lot of other gardeners would agree with me. You just don't do them kind of things.
The punishment for this, should fit the crime. Not soap in the eyes but the cat o' nine tails and I'd gladly do it to them.
Some day, if by chance, you see this cat up a tree, don't phone the fire brigade, as it's laying in ambush for someone. Cats are devious like that.

well, i have an indoor cat.
maybe its someone thats had enough of watching the cat fouling their garden or wiping out local wildlife.
maybe it climbed in through someones kitchen window and attempted to steal chicken that was being prepared for tea.
we live in a world full of scum.
the easiest solution to the problem is keep the cat indoors.
all cats should be kept indoors or in an outside pen.
they shouldnt be allowed to roam freely.
