Friends involved in Accrington 'revenge attack' are spared jail

FRIENDS involved in a ‘revenge attack’ on an Accrington man outside a gym, which led to him suffering a broken jaw, have been spared jail by a judge.
Tanveer Ayub, 23, and Adeel Hussain, 22, confronted Adam Scholes, as he stood with his friend Damien Rogers outside Stoneage Fitness, Preston Crown Court was told.
Prosecutor Hugh Barton said that, according to Mr Rogers, Ayub had ‘lashed out’ without warning, causing Mr Scholes to fall to the ground. Mr Scholes was then kicked.
Robert Elias, for Hussain, said his client had been moved out of Accrington by his family to East London, since the incident.
Patrick Ryan, for Ayub, said his client had acted out of misguided loyalty towards his friend.
Ayub, of Higher Antley Street, Accrington, and Hussain, formerly of Williams Lane, Accrington, each admitted assault.
Ayub was given a 12-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, with 180 hours community service and 12 months’ probation supervision. Hussain was given a 10-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, with 150 hours community service and a residence order.
