Clitheroe conservatory firm to recruit 30 new workers

A CONSERVATORY manufacturer has announced it is to take on 30 new members of staff.

Clitheroe based Ultraframe, which is the UK’s market leader in the manufacture of glass roofs and extension systems, is hoping to fill the positions over the coming months in a bid to meet the needs of the growth in the business.

The appointments will take the total workforce to more than 250 employees.

To find the new recruits, Ultraframe is holding an open day at the company’s manufacturing plant in Salthill Road tomorrow.

Candidates can drop in any time between 9am and noon.

Jobs available include posts within the manufacturing and warehouse teams and sales administration.

Potential recruits will be able to take a tour of the manufacturing facility, meet other team members and take away an application form.

For candidates unable to attend the open day, an application form can be collected from the main reception. Sue Holt, Ultraframe human resources manager, said: “Ultraframe is one of the region’s largest employers and we are committed to making sure that where possible we are providing local jobs for local people.

“That has always been the employment philosophy of this business.

“We are very much looking forward to meeting new recruits on Saturday and showcasing the business.”

In the last 12 months Ultraframe has launched a new roof and glazed extension system that has delivered significant growth within the busi- ness, securing jobs and creating new employment opportunities.

If times were not so hard that company would have a great deal of difficulty recruiting anyone the way it treats its staff. Annualised hours, petty disciplinaries by the score, threat of being sacked if you have a day off. and a hire and fire culture worse than anywhere.. Not a nice company these days.

'Human resources' what an awful expression. It should be Personnel like it always was.

With a whip, if I come across a peverse employee.

P.S. I'm The Boss, not the manager!

Go renew your membership with the Arthur Scargill brigade and remain there 24/7, or better still join up with that other typical rock n roller on this page and continue with your bad back, scrounging.

What do you mean 'scab',

People with attitude like yours brought the British industry onto it knees and destroyed it with pathetic demands.

Now they take on and employ people who want to work and most are immigrants who are tuly committed in providing proper crafting which once again the top room boy's appreciate.

I'm not at all surprised you ask 'why'!!!

Companies employ immigrant labour as they know they can get away with paying pooor wages, and that immigrants will not report health and safety issues, or complain about unreasonable demands placed on them by incompetent managers. Immigrants put up with the situations they often find themselves in so that after 6 months they can then leave and enter the benefits system.
All i can say is that if Ultaframe was run today by its founder John Lancaster then it would be a far more sucessful business and would not operate in the same way. I am sure many ex Ultraframe employees would agree with this. John Lancaster was a gentleman and treated his employees with respect..
