ARMED robbers who forced their way into a Whalley home armed with a machete are being sought by police.

Detectives are appealing for information about the two men, who wore face coverings forced their way into a property in Clitheroe Road.

The thieves made demands from the occupants of the house before searching the property and leaving with £50 in cash.

DI Jill Johnston, of Hyndburn CID, said: “Fortunately, the couple were uninjured but they understandably left badly shaken by what must have been a terrifying ordeal.

“If anybody has any information about this incident or knows the identity of the two men then I would urge them to contact police.

“In particular, I would be keen to speak to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in this area over the past couple of weeks or saw a vehicle parked on Clitheroe Road near to the junction with Wiswell Lane.”

The robbers, who struck at around 9pm on Friday, have been described as being white, aged in their early 20s and wearing dark clothing with their faces covered.

Detectives are investigating whether this could have been a case of mistaken identity.
