The Talent Team are off to Disneyland
A DANCE crew is hoping to steal the show after being handpicked to perform at Disneyland Paris.
The Talent Team, a group of 35 students from the Talent Theatre School, in Read, have been chosen to do two performances on the main stage at the world-famous venue in July.
They may also be taking part in the main parade at the tourist attraction.
The impressive dancers have also been selected to perform at Saddler’s Wells Theatre, in London, one of the top international dance venues, in March, and the Opera House, in Blackpool, in October.
Sisters Sarah and Claire Bruce, both trained dancers, started the school three years ago. The pair run dance classes in the Read, Clitheroe, Great Harwood, and Accrington areas, and have dancers aged 18 months to adults. The Talent Team is a selected group of the best dancers, aged seven to 18.
Sarah, 25, of Calderstones Park, Whalley, said: “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the dancers.
“We applied to do it through a company in London and had to send a DVD off showing the standard of our routines and dancers. They rang me to say we had been successful and I was over the moon. When I got the phone call, I was driving. I pulled over and all I could do was scream down the phone.
“It’s an amazing opportunity for all the kids. They can’t wait to go. It hasn’t really sunk in.”
Sarah and Claire, 28, of Whalley Road, Simonstone, teach tap, ballet, street, musical theatre, and drama.
The students have to pay for their transport and subsidised accommodation during their stay, and are planning a series of fundraisers. Sarah said: “We’ll be staying in the Disney Hotel. We can’t wait.”
