THE planning application for Accrington’s new bus station is set for final approval by councillors next week.

The go-ahead for the new scheme, at Crawshaw Street car park, is top of the agenda for Hyndburn Council’s planning committee on Wednesday.

The application by Lancashire County Council also includes a pedestrian link from the new bus station to Union Street and the Arndale.

The existing bus station, in Peel Street, was deemed ‘sub-standard’ in 2007, and plans for a new one developed as part of the Pennine Reach public transport scheme. It has been recommended for approval by officials.

The meeting will take place at 2pm in the Queen Elizabeth Room, in Scaitcliffe House, Accrington, chaired by councillor Bernard Dawson.

Other applications for decision include the erection of a two-storey side and rear extension, single-storey side and rear extension, front porch, bay window, canopy, detached garage, new gates and boundary wall at 2 Lyndhurst Avenue, Knuzden.

There is also an application for a 15 metre high wind turbine on land at School Lane, Guide, Blackburn.
