A TOP sports nutrition firm based in Nelson has signed up six-time Olympic cycling gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy as a brand ambassador.

Science in Sport (SiS) said the deal would see Sir Chris work closely with SiS and its team of experts to help him perform to his maximum in training and competition.

He will use a range of the brand’s leading energy, recovery and hydration products, including SiS GO Gels, SiS GO Energy.

The multiple world and Olympic champion will make appearances to help promote the brand’s range of endurance nutrition products as well as appearing on the SiS website and providing content for use on the brand’s social media channels.

Stephen Moon, managing director at SiS, said: “Sir Chris is without doubt one of the world’s best athletes and truly epitomises what SiS is all about.

“Having used our products as an integral part of his nutrition ritual for a number of years, we are delighted to announce this new partnership.”

Sir Chris, said: “I have used SiS products for many years and I’m looking forward to working with them to further develop this area of my preparation and recovery.

“The credibility of the science and their innovative approach is the reason I chose to partner with Science in Sport.

The firm, founded in 1992, makes award-winning gels, powders, bars and supplements used by sporting superstars including Andy Murray and Usain Bolt.

It is also the official supplier of sports drinks and nutrition to the GB Rowing Teams.

Other brand ambassadors include triathlete Helen Jenkins and Olympic and World Champion cyclist Rebecca Romero.

SiS was acquired by Provexis for £8million in 2011. It employs 45 people.
