Delays warning as two sets of roadworks due to start in Blackburn
8:22am Tuesday 12th February 2013 in News
ROADWORKS in two areas of Blackburn are set to cause delays for motorists and commuters from the end of this week.
From Friday, National Grid will be installing new gas pipes at Four Lane Ends around Shear Brow, Revidge Road, Lammack Road, and Pleckgate Road.
The work is expected to take around six weeks to complete.
On Monday, February 18, Electricity North West will begin repairs to a low voltage underground cable in Whalley New Road, at the junction of Whalley Range.
The work is expected to take three weeks.
The bus stop outside Lloyds TSB (Blackburn bound) will be suspended, with a temporary stop nearby.
Blackburn with Darwen Council highways boss Dave Harling said: “I fully sympathise with motorists if they experience any delays, but these works are vital.
“On Whalley New Road, local businesses have experienced disruption as a result of the fault to the power cable.
“The temporary lights being set up at both sites will be manually controlled at peak times, and busy periods throughout the day, to try and reduce disruption, but I would advise drivers to find alternative routes where possible.”
