FOUR politicians from East Lancashire and Chorley could soon be rubbing shoulders with royalty, it has been confirmed.
Each year Lancashire County Council bosses are asked to put forward a list of nominations for the Queen’s garden party.
And no fewer than three East Lancashire county representatives have made it onto the shortlist for the Buckingham Palace gathering on June 6.
Conservatives Peter Britcliffe, who represents Oswaldtwistle and is a former Hyndburn Council leader, and Keith Bailey, of West Craven, have been put forward.
And Liberal Democrat Jeff Sumner, of Burnley South West, who also serves as a borough councillor, has been nominated.
County councillor Michael Devaney, who represents Chorley Rural North division, covering Brindle and Clayton-le-Woods, has also been invited. Each will be allowed one guest and another pair of nominations is also left to chief executive Phil Halsall to fill.
