Eleven in court after drug raids in Burnley and Pendle

ELEVEN people have been charged with various drug offences after a huge police operation.

Four of those appeared before Burnley Magistrates’ Court yesterday after the raids on Wednesday morning.

More than 130 officers swooped on 10 houses in Burnley and one in Brierfield during the second phase of Operation Regenerate.

Umar Ali, 20, of March Street; Deborah Tomlin, 47, of Griffin Close; Mohammed Ikraam, 27, of Thursby Road, all Burnley, and Mohammed Ruman Alom, 21, Reedley Road, Brierfield, have been remanded in custody to appear at Burnley Crown Court on February 18.

A further seven people, Michelle Simpson, 33, of Griffin Close, Alan Rutley, 44, of Spencer Street, Deborah Hefford, 50 of Spencer Street, James McCann, 51, of Waterbarn Street, Daniel Conway, 33, of Linby Street, Michael Grundy, 35, of Francis Street, and Wajid Hussain, 29, of Cameron Street, all Burnley were also charged and will appear at Burnley Magistrates’ Court on February 15.

The 12th person arrested, a 42-year-old woman, has been released on police bail until March 7.

The operation, aimed at combating suspected cocaine and heroin dealers in Burnley and Pendle, also saw 13 people arrested in Nelson last week.

Detectives subsequently charged seven people with possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
