Police end investigation into body found in Burnley flat

DETECTIVES have ended an investigation into the death of a 41-year-old man found dead at a flat in Burnley.
Three people have been released and will face no further action following the death of John Robert Patrick Keefe, it has been confirmed.
Mr Keefe, originally thought to be from the Bacup area, was discovered dead in a first-floor flat in Brownhill Avenue, Brunshaw, on August 15 last year.
A 39-year-old woman, believed to be the flat’s tenant, was initially arrested on suspicion of assault in relation to Mr Keefe’s death.
Shortly afterwards, a 32-year-old man was questioned, also over an alleged assault.
And a 60-year-old man was quizzed on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
The trio remained on bail while the results of toxicology tests were secured from forensic scientists.
A Home Office post-mortem examination initially failed to determine the cause of the man’s death. A Lancashire Police spokesman has confirmed that all three have been released from their bail and will face no further action in relation to Mr Keefe’s death.
Mr Keefe was said to have been a regular visitor to the flat, where the woman had lived for a short time.
East Lancashire coroner Richard Taylor has been passed a file on Mr Keefe’s death.
An inquest into his death is expected to take place later this year.
