WITH their home pitch unplayable, Southwick Wanderers despite already playing away at Somerford took up their opponents invite to switch their Division Two game to their pitch.

Matt Rusling’s efforts to get the game played went unrewarded as his Southwick side were beaten 5-1.

A win for the home side that saw them complete a double over their guests but more importantly it gave them two points that keep them in the hunt for a top two finish.

Somerford who won the earlier meeting of the sides 6-0 got off to the perfect start when Chris Yeo put them ahead.

Southwick fought they way back and fashioned a brilliant equaliser that saw Jerome Dyer volley in from 10 yards to square things up.

The goal proved to be a false dawn for the visitors as a second from Yeo regain the lead for Somerford and by half time they were 4-1 up as further goals from Lee Fernandez and Ashley Monaghan put them in charge.

The second half was more of a subdued affair as teams fought to overcome the wind, the only goal coming from Will Stone whose fine strike sealed a 5-1 win for Spike Chandler’s side.
