PENDLE Coronation Street actress Natalie Gumede, who plays Kirsty Soames missed out on winning the Best Newcomer at last night's National Television Awards.

The Colne nominee was up against Emmerdale’s Liam Fox, Joseph Thompson from Hollyoaks and winner David Witts, who plays EastEnders tough-nut Joey Branning.

Alan Halsall beat his co-star Michelle Keegan to take home the Best Serial drama performance, after a rollercoaster year for his character Tyrone.

The Corrie cast includes Burnley-born Malcolm Hebden who plays Norris, Rossendale’s Sam Aston and Jennie McAlpine and Edenfield’s Anthony Cotton.
