Snow caused Rossendale council meeting cancellation

TRAVEL disruption forced the cancellation of a Rossendale Council meeting on Monday night.

Members of the overview and policy scrutiny committee were due to meet in the council chamber at Futures Park in Bacup. But officers took the decision to call it off as the Valley’s roads were hit by aroud three inches of snow.

Rossendalebus was forced to divert services which would travel down non-gritted roads.

Areas without a bus service on Monday included Staghills Road, Newchurch; Pennine Road, Bacup and Nuttall Lane, Ramsbottom.

The committee was due to discuss policy development items, all of which will now be added to the agenda for its next scheduled meeting on February 11.
