A BLACKBURN dad-of-one made his TV debut yesterday on a Channel 4 quiz show.

Paul Doherty, who lives in St Aidan’s Avenue in the Mill Hill area of the town, made it to the final of Face the Clock, which was aired yesterday afternoon.

And the 38-year-old is now teaming up with the man who beat him, after realising they had a mutual Facebook friend, in order to become a formidable quiz show team.

Laboratory supervisor Paul, who works at aerospace company Kaman and is married to Kirsty, said he had hoped to win a bit of cash on the programme.

He said: “I just wanted to win a little bit of money to make things a little bit easier.

“I did not win any money on this show, but the person who beat me did win £2.500.

“When we left the studio, he asked me if I would like to do more shows with him in pairs, so we have applied for another one on Channel 4.”

Face the Clock is a general knowledge daytime show presented by Rory Bremner.

Six contestants answer questions against the clock, not knowing when the time will run out.

Each player can choose to answer or pass their question and the person playing when the clock runs out is knocked out.

Paul, who auditioned to be on the programme in Manchester in November last year, said: “I was at work when the show was on, but I asked everybody to record it.

“There was a bit of banter with my friends and family because I got knocked out in the final.

“But it was brilliant to be on the show and Rory Bremner was fantastic. He is a really genuinely nice bloke.”

Face the Clock is broadcast on Channel 4 Monday to Friday at 3.30pm and Paul’s episode can be seen on Channel 4’s On Demand service.
