MAYOR of Blackburn with Darwen Zamir Khan has announced the borough’s annual Mayoral Ball will take place at King George’s Hall on Friday, April 12.

The money raised by the yearly civic celebration will go to his chosen charities the East Lancashire Hospice and Miles of Smiles.

Coun Khan said: “It will be an evening of music, dance and song featuring the North Jazz Orchestra with a three-course meal. This is a brilliant opportunity for residents to come out in force to show their support for the East Lancs Hospice and Miles of Smiles.

“The Mayor’s Ball is set to be a great event and I would encourage everyone to come along and show their support to help us raise as much money as possible.”

East Lancashire Hospice on Park Lee Road in Blackburn provides specialist palliative care for people with life limiting illnesses such as cancer throughout Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley. It promotes the highest quality of life for patients, whilst continuing to support their families and carers.

Miles of Smiles is a charity established in 2008 that organises special treats for youngsters who need and deserve a smile in their life.

Tickets, priced £25 each, are available from the Mayor’s office until April 5.
