AN agency called in to assess land used as an illegal waste site said its investigation is still ongoing.
Hundreds of black bin bags dumped at the former NIPA Laboratories site, in Oswaldtwistle’s Nook Lane, caused a neighbourhood fly infestation this summer.
The Environment Agency is reassuring residents that it remains vigilant in monitoring the site, and that enforment options are being explored.
An Environment Agency spokesman said: “We appreciate the concerns of residents about the future of the Nook Lane site. We are currently looking into what enforcement options are available to us, and are monitoring the site closely.”
Residents with any concerns can call the EA on a 24-hour hotline, on 0800 80 70 60.
