Stonyhurst College opens new canteen

STONYHURST’s new dining refectory opened for business this term, to the delight of pupils, staff and college caterers.

The new dining area at the prestigious 400-year-old co-educational day and boarding school can seat 320 people and has state-of-the-art kitchen facilities.

Designed by Preston architects Cassidy and Ashton, English Heritage has described the new building as ‘quietly modern – standing as an obvious addition to the complex without competing with Stonyhurst’s more historical elements’.

Headmaster Andrew Johnson said: “We are absolutely delighted with this beautiful new facility, which will enhance the lives of all our pupils. I particularly like the wonderful views across the ponds to the grounds beyond.”
