Riddle of car found abandoned in Haslingden ditch

AN investigation is under way after a vehicle was left abandoned in Haslingden.

Officers found the car in the Grane Road at around 8am yesterday.

The vehicle was discovered in a ditch near the turn-off to Belthorn.

Police said it was uncertain how the green Honda Accord came to be in the road or if there had been an accident.

A spokesman from the road policing unit said it appeared that the driver had lost control of the vehicle before leaving it.

He said: “The car had lost control but there was no trace of anybody with it.

“We are not sure if there had been a collision.”

He added that officers were hoping the driver would come back to collect the vehicle.

Police are now looking to trace the owner and anyone with information should call police on 101.

All due respect but should someone not tell the police if they inform DVLA of the number plate it takes less than half a minute to bring up the owners name and address.

It was probably a police car..or a policeman/woman or some other public sector worker driving it therefore the technology you remind us of is nil and void to identify the owner. Not untill he/she as sobered up anyway..

Welcome to Authoritarianism.

Authoritarianism rules the day.
But not for those who don't obey.

Great idea! Although I'm fairly sure they'd have thought of this and that the car isn't registered or insured hence why they can't find an owner!

The last recorded person who owned the car will end up being grilled as to who they sold it to surely? Poor them!
