POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward following claims that a 27-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in a car in Blackburn.

The incident is alleged to have taken place around 8.30pm on Thursday, December 27, when the woman was walking along Darwen Street in the town centre.

She has told police she got into a dark-coloured car with four doors, believing it to be a taxi.

Inside the vehicle were two Asian men who drove the woman around Blackburn before leaving her near to her home address in Rockliffe Street sometime later.

She said that she was sexually assaulted while in the vehicle and police are keen to trace the vehicle and its occupants.
