Charity urges East Lancashire’s elderly to keep warm

OLDER people’s charity WRVS is urging East Lancashire’s elderly residents to keep warm this winter.
Figures released by the Office of National Statistics show that there are around 25,700 more deaths in winter months than at any other time of the year, and the majority of these deaths occur in people over the age of 75.
WRVS is encouraging people to stay safely indoors during icy, or snowy weather, get an annual flu jab, drink warm drinks, and stay in touch with family and friends.
If you are concerned about coping with winter and the effect of cold weather, you can contact WRVS for advice by calling 0845 600 5885, or visiting the website at www.wrvs.org.uk
