A BURNLEY mum is looking and feeling great after being crowned 'Miss Slinky' in Burnley for her determination to lose weight.

Sarah Hartley, 31, has dropped four dress sizes from a 14 to an eight since joining the St Cuthbert’s Slimming World group in June.

She was voted 'Miss Slinky' by her fellow slimmers and is now in the national Slimming World finals with a chance of winning a £2,000 prize.

The competition recognises members who have undergone a huge transformation by becoming slimmer and more confident.

The mum-of-two said: "I couldn’t believe it when everyone voted me as ‘Miss Slinky’. I haven’t felt 'slinky' since having my children, but thanks to Slimming World I am again, and it feels great.

“I’ve always thought of Christmas as the time of year to dress up in something gorgeous and sparkly, but I didn’t feel confident enough to wear something like that and had to avoid certain shops and styles because of my size too.

“This year I’m going to have lots of fun in that perfect party outfit, because now I can shop anywhere and I know I’ll be able to find something that looks and feels great.”

Sarah has gone from 12st 10lb to 9st 2lb in just a few months.

She said: “With Slimming World you don’t follow a diet temporarily and then go back to your old habits when you get to the weight you want to be.

“I’ve got a completely new lifestyle now. I’ve learned how to make delicious and filling healthy meals and I never feel deprived because I can still have a glass of Tia Maria or a bar of chocolate if I fancy it.

“I’m much more active too – I love going to the gym and long family walks.”

Consultant Caroline Griffiths said: “At Slimming World members learn about making the healthiest choices and how to cope with challenges that might previously have thrown them off course, like Christmas dinner or parties.”

Slimming World meets at St Cuthbert's Community Hall every Thursday at 5.15pm.
