A COLNE man, who leads a chaotic life, has been given a second chance by magistrates after failing to comply with a probation order.
Defence solicitor Glenn Smith told Burnley magistrates that Lee Morris, 32, had suffered from memory problems since suffering a head injury. Morris also had no reading and writing skills and was unable to organise himself because of his problems, the court heard.
He used to be cared for by his grandmother, said Mr Smith, but she was now in a home and he was effectively a ‘sofa surfer’, spending a few nights with a friend in Trawden or at a temporary address in Colne.
Morris, of Peel Street, Colne, admitted breaching a probation order, imposed for two offences of assaulting police officers.
The probation service said that while he turned up for an induction, he had missed several other appointments.
Magistrates gave him a four-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, revoked his probation order and warned him about his future conduct.
