COUNCILLORS will take a second look at a call for a zebra crossing at the entrance to Blackburn Central High School.
Twenty-two students petitioned Blackburn with Darwen council for the safe passage across Haslingden Road.
The new school currently has an uncontrolled crossing with a central refuge across the main road.
When the pupils petition was considered by the borough planning and highways committee, officers said the zebra crossing was not needed. They told councillors there was already a signalised puffin crossing South East of the school and two uncontrolled crossing with refuges to cater for students needs.
A survey by an official of usage of the existing crossing outside the entrance showed insufficient students using it to justify the spending.
The councillors deferred a decision so they could go and look for themselves.
