POLICE were called to the Brownhill Arms in Blackburn on ‘Mad Friday’ after reports that a man had been 'glassed' in the face.
DS Mark Saunders at Blackburn CID said: “The victim, from Blackburn, had been drinking inside the pub with a friend when he got into an argument with a group of people at around 1.15am on the Saturday morning.
“The argument moved outside where the 38-year-old was knocked to the ground and someone hit him around the side of the head with what is believed to be a pint glass.
“It is unclear whether the glass smashed, but he received cuts to his temple, which will probably have needed stitches. He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.”
It is understood the man is now out of hospital and police are appealing for witnesses who saw the incident to come forward.
Police can be contacted on 101, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
