COUNCILLORS have joined the chorus of praise for a Pendle sportswoman who has earned her first senior England netball call-up.
Natalie Haythornthwaite, 20, has been picked for a three-match series against Australia next January.
And her achievement, in the wake of captaining the Great Britain squad at the World University Games, has been lauded by Pendle Council leader Joe Cooney.
The former Fisher-More student once received a grant from the authority as part of its rising stars programme. Coun Cooney said: βIt is wonderful, especially in this Olympic year, to see our sports clubs and individuals doing well.β
Natalie, who plays for Yorkshire Jets, has also led England Under-21s to a series victory over South Africa.
