A woman suffered a broken back after being struck by a car in Burnley at around 4pm on Thursday.
The victim was helping her children into her car when she was hit by another vehicle travelling along Laithe Street from Springhill Street.
Police believe the woman was hit by the wing mirror of a champagne-coloured car, similar to a Jaguar, which did not stop at the scene. It is thought the male driver of the car may have been elderly and had grey hair.
Following the collision, the vehicle left Laithe Street and turned right towards Berry Street.
The woman was taken to hospital where she is receiving treatment for a broken back.
PC Michael Raw from Pennine Road Policing Unit said: “An investigation is underway but I would appeal to anybody that witnessed this incident or with any information that could assist with our investigation to contact Lancashire Police.
“I would also appeal directly to the driver of the car to come forward. If you recognise the description of the car and you were in the Laithe Street area at around 4pm last Thursday and you think this may have been you, please contact us.”
Information: call Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log number LC-20121213-1360.
