MORE libraries could see their opening hours extended at selected branches across the county.

More than half of Lancashire’s 74 libraries increased their opening hours from October, and new proposals could see changes at a further 23 libraries countywide.

A consultation is running until Saturday, January 5.

Julie Bell, county library manager, said: “As a result of feedback from users, staff and local communities, 48 of our libraries now open half-an-hour earlier in the mornings, and at no extra cost.

“We’re now looking at whether library users may benefit from similar changes at more of our branches.

“Any decisions we make, including no change, will depend on the public response to the questionnaire.”

Questionnaires in hardcopy will be available in the 23 libraries included in the proposals, and staff will be on hand to offer help and advice.

People can also fill in an online questionnaire by visiting lancashire.gov.uk/ libraries.
