Sexual health services in Lancashire under the spotlight

A NEW website to promote sexual health will be launched in Lancashire to coincide with World Aids Day.

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Contraception and Sexual Health (CaSH) Service has developed the site to make it easier for people to access important information about sexual and reproductive health.

The CaSH teams provide sexual health services across East Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen and Central Lancashire.

These include contraceptive planning, Genitourinary Medicine (GUM), chlamydia screening; psychosexual services, vasectomy services, young people’s service and a sexual health training and education programme.

The CaSH team has been working in partnership with Blackburn College design students and service users to come up with an appropriate and newly recognisable brand for the service.

The brand is supported by a new website, a QR code for smartphone users and a post code finder to help people find their nearest clinic.

Sue Capstick at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said: “It is vital that people have the information, confidence and access to quality services in order to seek appropriate care and make choices that are right for them.

“This in turn helps people to develop positive relationships and enables them to protect themselves and their partners from infections and unintended pregnancy.

“We believe that the new website and distinctive branding will improve access to our services for all people regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation and ethnicity.

“It will also provide accurate information for people to access.”

The new CaSH brand and website will be officially launched tomorrow, at the University Centre at Blackburn College with World Aids Day the following day.
