The ANNUAL ‘Make a Noise’ event took place yesterday on what would have been Sophie Lancaster’s 26th birthday.
The event raises money for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation which fights intolerance and prejudice.
Among items auctioned were Evanescence and Coronation Street memorabilia.
Sophie, 20, was murdered in a Stubbylee park in 2007.
Twitter and the charity’s website was inundated with messages of goodwill.
Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, tweeted: “Make a noise on what would have been Sophie’s birthday.
“Stamp out prejudice and hatred.”
